Golden
Jubilee of Cecilie Amiet, rscj
On Saturday, October 1, 2005,
exactly 50 years from the day of her First Vows, C
ecilie (Cec) Amiet
celebrated her Golden Jubilee. In characteristic Cec style, she wanted
it to be a low-key, no fuss affair. It was that, but nevertheless the
gathering at Karlaminda that afternoon congratulated Cec on her half
century of dedicated service with joyful, whole-hearted appreciation. Fr
Peter Hern,
MSC,
long time friend of the Society, celebrated the Mass, firstly recalling
the many changes that have occurred over the last five decades,
comparing them to the shifting of tectonic
plates.
Cec resonated with this idea when she
addressed the assembly of rscj, her sister, Lynette and husband,
Charles, their daughter, Lynette and her husband. Cec systematically
recalled her life from First Vows at Rose Bay, mentioning
the rscj
present with whom she taught or whom she had taught. She
mentioned
experiences shared in Probation, Recyclage in Rome and England,
and on other holidays. Veronica Dunphy had made and decorated the lovely
Jubilee fruit cake, and Rose Bay community had made the many sandwiches
and cakes. When Cec was toasted in champagne, no further speeches
followed. Guests departed in a spirit of a quietly happy event for our
much loved sister. Her life has contributed so much to the history of
the province.
