At a certain point you say
to the woods, to the sea,
to the mountains,
the world,
Now I am ready.
Now I will stop and be wholly attentive.
You empty yourself and wait,
listening...

Sr Alene, RSCJ celebrates her Golden Jubilee

April has been a golden month at Henly Gardens with Sr Alene's first celebration for family and friends at Sacré Coeur on April 2nd. This Mass was celebrated by the former Parish Priest of Braybrook, Father Rom Murphy, who delivered a beautiful homily based on the three readings which had been very significant for Alene over the years.

On April 22nd St Bernadette's Parish also celebrated Alene's Golden Jubilee of Profession. Because Alene had spent 25 years working in the parish of Braybrook, many of her friends from there joined the gathering for the 6.30pm Mass at St Bernadette's which was concelebrated by Father John Taliano M.S.S.P and Father Ivano Burdian, M.S.S.P.  Symbols of Alene's life, (a pre-entry photo, crucifix of Vows, the Constitutions of the Society of the Sacred Heart and photographs representing Braybrook and Sunshine Special Developmental School, her pastoral ministry and family) were brought to the altar with the bread and wine for Eucharist.

Lavish refreshments followed with the main attraction being the Jubilee cake. Resplendent in all its glory, it carried the inscription: CONGRATUALATIONS ON YOUR GOLDEN JUBLIEE OF RELIGIOUS PROFESSION ST ALENE – an error enjoyed by many. There was certainly a heavenly glow about the evening, and the comment most heard was: “It was a privilege to be present at such a celebration".
