At a certain point you say
to the woods, to the sea,
to the mountains,
the world,
Now I am ready.
Now I will stop and be wholly attentive.
You empty yourself and wait,
listening...

On the weekend of February 9th - 10th, 2008 the Madeleine Sophie Weekend for a new group of participants took place at Kerever Park Spirituality Centre in Bowral. This weekend, a life-giving event for all, in an atmosphere of freedom and trust, allowed each one the privilege of 'being' alone and together in the beautiful setting that Kerever Park offers.

The programme was initiated several years ago by Sr Betty McMahon, RSCJ, who believed strongly in the need to provide opportunities for young women to come together to share their story. This dimension of the programme has been greatly appreciated as has the quality input given by RSCJ and devoted, talented friends of the Society of the Sacred Heart, all of whom believe they gain just as much from coming together, if not more, than the participants themselves.

Each of the three live-in weekends build on areas including;

  • Where we are now.
  • Sophie’s story her educational vision, her experience of God, her leadership her relationships.
  • Theological reflection, Jesus story.
  • Leadership
  • Methods of prayer and discernment.

On March 13th, the group will meet for the first of a series of Thursday evenings at Sancta Sophia,        Sydney. They will gather with 15 visiting women who have been chosen as mentors to accompany the participants during the programme.
