At a certain point you say
to the woods, to the sea,
to the mountains,
the world,
Now I am ready.
Now I will stop and be wholly attentive.
You empty yourself and wait,
listening...

Aboriginal People Claim their Rightful Place

Aboriginals reclaim rightful place

The God of Surprises paid an amazing visit to St Vincent's Church, Redfern in July, 2006. To honour the 20th anniversary of Pope John Paul's visit to Alice Springs, the Aboriginal Community painted a beautiful mural highlighting the Pope's affirmation of their culture and spirituality.
For many years the Aboriginal people have been respected and honoured in Redfern Parish, but the past four years have been a difficult time for all parishioners.
The Aboriginal people have offered this mural as a silent but eloquent way of reclaiming their rightful place.
